A new essay, A Rose by Any Other Name, has been added to the Faery Notebook section of the site. Also, if you're looking for some of my more recent musings and writings, may I suggest visiting my more informal LiveJournal: DeerWoman.

A review was posted of David Riché's book The Art of Faery. I've removed the links to The Sacred Animal section because I am hoping to revise them in the near future. I apologize for the inconvenience.

All of the menus have been uploaded, and to my knowledge, everything is operating correctly. There are one or two cosmetic issues with some PC-based browsers, but the site should still be entirely functional. I hope everyone finds this version easy to navigate :-)
I should mention that with the redesign I renamed the subdirectory which used to contain the essays in the Wiccan Religion section - all of those essays are now located within the area labeled Bloodroot & Luminous Deer and their URLs have changed! So if you've linked to any of those essays, you will need to change the URLs slightly. I've also added a new Introduction to that section which illuminates some of these changes.
·January 25, 2005·
The redesign is almost complete, I have a few things to add and some bugs to work out (mostly concerning how PC users view the site). The primary and secondary menus are complete and running, only the tertiary menu remains to be uploaded.

I'm curently in the process of redesigning this Wing, so things may be a bit mixed-up for a while! I'm trying to make the transition go as swiftly and smoothly as possible, but I still wanted to apologize for any inconvenience you might experience exploring this section of my website.
·December 6, 2004·
I apologize for the lack of new written content, and I regret to say that it may still be some time before I update this Wing. This is due to a number of reasons. For one, right now I have a lot of motivation to create visual art and so I am currently putting more focus on that. Secondly, I'm experiencing a bit of a personal and spiritual upheaval that is causing me to reconsider a number of things (and eventually it will cause me to revise much of the "Wiccan Religion" section, including but not limited to, the very title of that section). However, until I have gained more clarity in order to revise that section, it will be left as is. I do not plan on editing any of the older essays to reflect my more recent revelations (don't worry - I'm still Pagan!), although I will likely include notes which state that they may no longer reflect my current views. If you still happen to be interested in my writings on religion and spirituality, I've been posting more informal thoughts on those topics on my LiveJournal.

Desirée's Musings officially opens at its new URL: www.sphinxmuse.net! I'm still in the process of transferring files, so the content of Main and Gallery Wings are not here in their entirety yet, but I'm working on it!

I recently created a new webring called S.I.D.H.E., which stands for Seeking Inspired, Deep, and Honest Expression. It's a Webring, subtitled "Not your Typical Faery Ring," which focuses on the art and perception of Faery. I'm currently looking for new members, so if you're interested, please apply!
·August 17, 2004·
I created a Livejournal: Flora, Fauna, Persona It is essentially a Nature Journal, but it also includes personal writings pertaining especially to Wicca and Neo-Paganism.

I reviewed the late Stewart Farrar's What Witches Do. It is listed under the Wicca & Neo-Paganism category. I rewrote the entire code to the index page, so hopefully now it appears as it should on PCs. I wrote it out by hand this time rather than trusting Photoshop, and I scrapped the faulty javascript. If there are still problems (other than broken links - I am aware of those) please let me know.
I added a review of Carl McColman's Before You Cast a Spell to the Book Reviews section. You can access it either from the Wicca & Neo-Paganism category, or the Magic & Spellwork category.
·May 17, 2004·
Blesséd Beltane! There has been some spring cleaning! As you have probably guessed, the overall site has undergone drastic re-design and re-organization. In the hopefully not-too-distant future I will be revamping many of the sections, adding more book reviews, and adding essays.
A number of things have changed: Navigation is now via either the Home menu or the leaf icons which appear below this window. The Animal Totems section has been reincarnated as 'The Sacred Animal,' a specific page dedicated to quotations has been dropped (however, there are still quotations-a-plenty throughout my writings!), and I have added a new section for my written work that does not fit neatly into the other sections. 'Other Writing' will include my essays on film, literature, and perhaps even some of my own attempts at poetry. Things may be in flux for a few days as I switch things over...please bear with me!
·May 4, 2004·
I added two book reviews: one of Benjamin Hoff's The Te of Piglet, and one of the Tao Te Ching: The Definitive Edition translated by Jonathan Star.
·March 23, 2004·
I added a review of Jesse Wicker Bell's (a.k.a. Lady Sheba) The Grimoire of Lady Sheba to the Book Reviews section.
·March 19, 2004·
I added a new essay to the Wiccan Religion section. It is entitled Winter Thoughts and is basically a musing on the season. In addition, I recently updated my Elfwood Gallery. It includes one or two pieces that you will not see at the Gallery Wing.
·March 8, 2004·
I slightly re-worked the design of The Faery Notebook, corrected some spelling errors, added some links, and added a new poem to the essay within that section on the Faery muse.
·February 19, 2004·
I added a review of Lanier Graham's Goddesses to the book reviews section (it is classified as a non-Pagan book).
·February 17, 2004·
I reviewed Dan and Pauline Campenelli's Circles, Groves and Sanctuaries. I also recently revamped my biography page and included general information about this website. A while ago I decided to move the art links on the Links and Webrings page to the Gallery Wing, and I have been updating those on a regular basis. I have so many essays in the works, but I'm not exactly sure when I will actually be able to finish them and post them here.
·January 14, 2004·
I added a review of Deborah Lipp's The Elements of Ritual.
·January 6, 2004·
Happy New Year! Today I added a review of Starhawk's Dreaming the Dark to the book reviews section. I've basically been going through and correcting some things (code errors, grammar, etc.) as well as adding a few new links to the Pagan links pages. I'm planning a redesign for both the Main Wing and the Gallery Wing. I hope to give the Main Wing an overall consistent, simple design.
