description:
This is a light-hearted image of the ancient Egyptian Goddess Bast I created sometime in 2000. It was one of my first experimentations with the style of Japanese animation, and I enjoyed creating it. The hieroglyphs running vertically on the left read: B3st ntrt n bnr mw (roughly 'Bast: Goddess of Pleasure/Sweetness and Cats' - and truthfully not the most accurate description). I do not personally feel knowledgeable enough to inform you about this Goddess in depth, but if you are interested, I would highly suggest going to Per Bast. It is a wonderful, well-researched site. Her features, including the scarab on her forehead and Udjat (i.e. 'Eye of Ra') pendent on Her neck are based upon actual Egyptian representations of Her.

This piece comes custom matted in a bright red mat which really compliments the colors in the art. The actual artwork is approximately 10.75 by 8 inches, however including the mat the entire piece is 12 by 16 inches and is ready for framing.
