With some reservations, I have decided to post some of my own poetic endeavors. They largely relate to the subjects of spirituality (particularly my own), a budding relationship with the Goddess, and to Nature. I offer them here for your hopeful enjoyment, and perhaps even for your amusement. The large majority of them were written while I was still in middle school, encompassing seventh and eighth grade, which should be taken into consideration. Some of my poetry was present in the initial incarnation of Desirée's Musings, and it has long since been absent from these pages, yet I now feel that it would only be equitable to offer the poetry of others if I displayed at least a few of my own. Comments, constructive criticisms, etc. are welcome....
·STARS·
written in the late summer of 1997
The stars speak
of times they have seen
as they drift placidly through
the sea of eternity,
The moon, a spheric glow of inspiration,
bobs under the surface and emerges
regaining her reign of mystic influence,
The sea of darkness churns,
carrying with it a ring of animals
each one chasing another
as it is being chased itself,
All bow to the secrecy of night
a spell too calm and inviting to refuse,
We slowly shut the doors of our consciousness
Then, we open windows -
·3 HAIKU·
written sometime in 1997
the sea rushes up
the sandy beach strewn with shells
and then retreats backTrees whisper their tales
of times long forgotten
to those listeningThe world slowly sets
into the dreamtime of night
the crickets greet her
·STORM SONG·
written on 5-6-1998
dark tempest
awakes a dancing spirit
limbs filled with fire
and movements fluid
churning energy
in a sky the shade of menace
which turns earthly colors neon
crackling tension of sky and earth
and white flaming spears
pierce through gray shadow
the lively drums of nature
give way to rain
so the spirit sends its blessings
and the earth sings in thanks
fury satisfied
tranquility emerges
and earth and sky are peaceful
once more
